How to choose a homeopathic remedy

Choosing a remedy is mostly about matching. Read the short descriptions and pick the one that sounds most like what you are actually seeing.

Step 1 — Start with the body part

From the home page, choose the body part or category that fits — Head, Throat & Chest, Skin, Emotional, and so on. Then open the symptom or condition.

Step 2 — Read the "Best for" lines

Each remedy has a one-line highlight showing when it fits best. Skim these first; usually one or two will jump out.

Step 3 — Match the details

Open the remedy and check the key indications and what makes it better or worse — time of day, heat or cold, movement, rest, mood. The remedy whose details match most closely is your choice.

You don't need a perfect match. The closest reasonable fit is enough to start.

Step 4 — If two remedies both fit

Use the compare view on the symptom page to see them side by side and choose the one that matches more of your details.

For some conditions, taking more than one remedy at the same time is helpful. When a remedy has a matching partner(s), that complementary remedy is listed in the "Frequently taken with" box on the remedy page. Think of it as a suggestion for your specific situation or symptom, not a requirement. Read the remedy descriptions and decide which one or ones are right for you.

If you decide to use two or more remedies together, take them a few minutes apart if possible and follow their individual dosing guidelines on frequency and potency.

If you picked the wrong one

Nothing bad happens. A remedy that doesn't match usually does nothing at all. Simply stop and try the next closest match.
