Plumbum metallicum
A deep-acting remedy for stubborn constipation with hard, dry, dark, ball-like stools that are extremely difficult to expel. The abdomen feels retracted or drawn toward the spine, and there may be severe colicky pain relieved by hard pressure.
Key indications
- Obstinate constipation with hard, dry, black, sheep-dung-like stools
- Severe straining with little result; sensation of anus drawn upward
- Abdomen feels drawn in toward the spine ('retracted navel')
- Colicky pain radiating from navel, better from hard pressure
- Slowness, weakness, and heaviness of the whole system
Motion, cold, exertion, night
Hard pressure, rubbing, warmth
30C once or twice daily for chronic, stubborn constipation; reduce as bowels normalize. Not to be repeated frequently for long periods.
General guidance only. 200ck may be substituted for 200C potencies. Stop the remedy upon significant improvement. If no improvement after 2-3 doses in acute cases or after 4-6 weeks in chronic cases, try a different remedy.
