Aconite (monkshood)

Aconitum napellus

Botanical illustration of Aconite

A key remedy for stabilizing blood pressure after a stroke, especially when fear, panic, or residual shock drive the pressure up. The patient is restless, anxious, and frightened — with a pounding heart, hot dry skin, and a sense of doom — often worse at night or after the initial shock of the event.

Key indications

  • Best for: Stabilizing blood pressure after stroke
  • Sudden blood pressure surges with pounding heart and anxiety
  • Restlessness and fear of death remaining after the stroke
  • Hot, dry skin with a full, bounding pulse
  • Symptoms worse at night, from shock, or in warm rooms
Worse from

Fright, shock, night, warm rooms, cold dry wind

Better from

Open air, rest, reassurance, sweating

Suggested dosage

200C twice daily during early recovery; reduce as blood pressure settles and calm returns. Use only after emergency medical treatment and alongside prescribed blood pressure medication — never in its place.

Frequently taken with

General guidance only. 200ck may be substituted for 200C potencies. Stop the remedy upon significant improvement. If no improvement after 2-3 doses in acute cases or after 4-6 weeks in chronic cases, try a different remedy. Consult a experienced practitioner if you feel you need additional help for serious or persistent symptoms.
